STEM Education Initiatives
With our unique background in academic and hands-on engineering, Compass Technology Group is focusing new efforts in STEM Education.
We are working to:
- create Project-Based Learning (PBL) modules that incorporate real-world engineering problems and are matched to Common Core learning standards;
- develop modular curricula in the fields of engineering, math and science;
- formulate experiential learning for students in the fields of engineering, math and science;
- initiate ways to combine our small business engineering expertise with the needs of schools, parents and students, CTG’s objective is to make a positive impact in this field.
With Crystal Bethards, a graduate from the University of Georgia with a BS in Math, CTG is finishing up our second year of Math – O – lympics, a Math Olympiad prep program. By designing fun and challenging games and puzzles, our objective is to nurture critical and creative mathematical thinking while students learn the basic standards outlined in the Common Core and beyond. We are set to kick off our next phase where we take math to the next level. Our 3D modeling and printing camp and class uses math and critical thinking skills as tools to develop the knowledge and skills required for 3D modeling and printing.
